German Humanitarian, Dr Ruth Pfau Dies In Pakistan 

Dr Ruth Pfau is termed as a Saviour of humanity and Mother Teresa of Pakistan. Though German, she left Germany and spent over 50 years in Pakistan fight Leprosy.

Aged 87, she has been in Pakistan since 1960. She was granted Pakistani Citizenship in 1988 & in 1979, she was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz, the second highest civilian award and honour given to both civilians and military officers of the Pakistan armed forces by the Government of Pakistan.

Her efforts made Pakistan one of the first Asian countries to control the epidemic of leprosy in 1996.
