The brand was launched at the high-end Harrod’s store in London, England and came to Lagos in August 2017 where it debuted at Alara luxury boutique, Ikoyi.
Epara, means “to cocoon oneself” in the Nigerian dialect of Ebira, and was born out of a personal journey to discover luxury skincare that caters to the unique women of colour.
The woman behind this brand, Ozohu Adoh grew up in Nigeria and attained her MBA at Oxford University; she has a life-long personal passion for authentic skincare which led to the creation of the nourishing and protective product.
In an interview with Black Beauty And Hair, she revealed that she had been having skin problems of sensitivity and hyperpigmentation for a long time but her dermatologist couldn’t find any solutions.
With organic ingredients from Africa, she found a formula that worked wonders for the irritability and sensitivity on her face, giving way to soft and clear skin.
Ozohu then worked closely with a lab in the UK to fully develop formulas that address all the skincare issues faced by women of colour, including dryness and discolouration caused by the sun, free radicals and air pollution.
The result is Epara. A line of high quality, hand crafted products derived from the rich soils of Africa that will wrap you in an all-natural luxury. Epara repairs and pampers, leaving skin moisturised and hydrated with products like moringa oil, marula oil and shea butter.
Epara also won the Luxury Packaging Award 2017 in the Personal Care category.
